I love my ellie so much. I’ve had her since she was a puppy and is now 14 years old. She has been my rock over the years I can always rely on her to make me smile and cheer me up when I’m feeling down. She just knows when something is wrong and within a minute makes you happy again. Ellie is my best friend she’s like a sister to me and a mum as I am unfortunate to not have contact with my mum. Ellie is a good listener, and she loves to give you sloppy kisses and follow you around the house. With out fail every morning she’s waiting at the bottom of the stairs to greet me she tries to climb the stairs to get close to you and ten as soon as I’m near her she jumps backgrounds onto her back legs I always say ellie be careful your not a puppy anymore you should be careful and taking it easy at your age haha. We have so many good memories and I make sure I take as many pictures and videos of her as possible like her opening her present on her 14th birthday and her playing outside in the sunshine. I could go on forever writing about my dog Ellie what a great breed labs are eh.
Yellow and chocolate pups would occasionally appear (although often culled), until finally gaining acceptance in the 20th century. The first recognised Yellow Labrador was Ben of Hyde, born in 1899, and Chocolate Labradors became more established in the 1930s.

I shall never forget the joy and happiness on Marina and the children’s faces as we sat clutching armfuls of yellow and black Labradors at the rescue centre. Marina and the children chose a little black girl we named Storm and she blew into our lives like a tornado. The children love her. I mean really love her. When I see my son lying down next to her I get flashbacks to my own childhood.

Not too long ago, Labrador retrievers were considered a tad exotic. In the 1950s, the sporty mid-size breed was a suburban rarity, popular mainly among upper-crust Anglophiles who liked the idea of owning a dignified hunting dog. Today, however, Labs are the Levi’s jeans of purebred dogs. They’ve topped the American Kennel Club’s list of registered canines for 12 years straight. And not just topped, but dominated: The number of registered Labs is nearly three times the number of golden retrievers, the second most popular dog on the list.

So where did the Labrador actually come from? Their origins are complex, combining Portugal, Newfoundland and Britain in their ancestry. They were originally Canadian fishing dogs, whose ancestors were taken on to work on the Portuguese cod trawlers off the remote Canadian island of Newfoundland.
